“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”
Kelvin Rampersad,
Carte Wealth Management
In her final year of law school, Terra Klinck took a pension law class with now Madam Justice Gillese that would set the course for her entire career.
Recognizing that pension law was an emerging area with a nexus to many other fields of law, Terra pursued it as her specialty, eventually becoming a leading authority and co-founding Brown Mills Klinck Prezioso LLP (BMKP Law), Canada’s only boutique employer-side pension, benefits, and executive compensation law firm.
BPM recognized Terra’s achievements and impact by naming her to its 2025 list of Elite Women. Upon receiving this honour, Terra recognized the importance of mentorship in her success.
“I owe a huge debt of gratitude to people who mentored me, and, accordingly, I have an obligation to fulfill a similar role to younger lawyers,” she adds. “I strive to be considered as a strategic advisor to clients and a good mentor to younger lawyers.”
Terra’s practice is ever-changing, shaped by economic changes, regulatory developments, and shifting employer needs. Rather than view the ever-changing nature of her practice as an obstacle, Terra sees it as an opportunity to continuously learn, innovate, and adapt.
“I work hard at ensuring that my advice to clients is business-focused and practical,” she reflects. “I carry out a full and detailed analysis as my first step, which I then work to elevate to solutions that make sense.”
With over 25 years of experience advising provincially and federally regulated employers and plan administrators, Terra has worked on some of the most complex matters in Canada, including:

Since co-founding BMKP Law in 2017, which at that time had five lawyers, she has been instrumental in growing the Firm to a 12-lawyer team, plus articling and summer students, giving the firm deep bench strength to tackle sophisticated, leading-edge projects.
While she has been fortunate to work in environments that support women, Terra acknowledges that balancing a demanding career with family responsibilities is a challenge many professionals face.
“For most women (and men), there is a period where it is difficult to balance a demanding career with a young family,” she adds. “This was a challenge for me. It is great to see workplaces make strides in helping women navigate these challenges. Flexible work arrangements are far more prevalent than 20 years ago.”
